Amazon.com has the sony ericsson T616 ATT phone on sale, now for $49.99 a $100 price drop from when i ordered on Dec 1st. (amazon.com did refund the difference today.) new customers only tho..

2 rebates, $100 from amazon and $100 from ATT for signing a 2 year contract. think it's $25 ATT rebate for a one year contract. Even w/ just 1year contract, you still make $75 so it seems a really good deal on a cool phone.

until dec 31st, you also get free Jabra bluetooth headset $79.99 item for free w/ the purchase. altho i think it's ok to put the coupon code here, but just in case, you can find the code on the above link.

the fact that it's a att gsm network could be an issue, but i just got mine delivered, so i'm keeping my fingers crossed in hopes that the gsm in my area is as good as the tdma..

AT&T's gsm network did not work for me. I had to return the phone but neglected to return the charging stand and the car charger. Anyone want to take these off my hands?

Well, so far you are right about customer support. I've been on hold with them many times today trying to figure out why my cingular number hasn't ported yet. Grrr.

Hm.. well the cancellation fee is $175, right? So if you got the equipment, then the rebates, then cancelled you'd end up with a $25 phone and bluetooth headset. :)

if you sign a one year, you get 125 back in rebates, instead of 200.. but you also ahve to pay a 36 activation fee. but either way free phone w/ free bluetooth headset rocks!

I'm thinking about getting this phone and porting my number from Sprint.

Does AT&T have an equivalent to Sprint PCS Vision? Can I make ringers out of wave files and use them with this phone?

Just to warn you all,
ATT in around Ann Arbor and Detroit Suburbs is HORRIBLE.
I have the same phone now, but Tmobile and coverage is so much better. (before i had t68i with tmobile)

I don't think people are seeing the full potential of this deal. Let's just say it doesn't matter how good AT&T coverage is if you play your cards right.

What do you mean? Are you talking about cancelling the service and keeping the phone and the headset?

You'll still get your rebates even though you cancelled? I'm not planning on doing that, but I figured they would deny you for them.

Well it wouldn't take them 2 years (hopefully) to pay out the rebates. Maybe 2-3 months max. After that you could cancel and the rebates would cover the termination fee.
