BB has the Asylum GeForce FX 5900 128MB retail version for $274.99 - $50 (MIR) = $224.99

This deal is not available online. Store only deal.

I picked one up last night and so far i'm loving it! I has a very nice full copper cooling system but takes 2 slots! Also pretty nice case mod lights coming out of the fans for those of you who case mod or have clear cases.

Card specs from BB

I disagree taking price vs performance in consideration. Not to mention ATI's driver support sucks so bad. I just got rid of a 9600pro, that was the biggest pile of junk card i've ever owned, decided to go back to nvidia.

this isn't the place to debate, but:

ati's drivers are very very good as of late, if you had a problem you probably didnt uninstall NVIDIA drivers from your comp before hand.

the 5900 isn't benchmarking well, and nvidia is supposedly not allowed to be an insider on dx10 (due to driver cheats) ... we'll see

i like my 9500np > 5600

THe 5900 will squarely stomp a 9800 np, even if they are both OCed to the max. In todays games, that is.

I dont know why people perpetuate the driver myth. It's mostly noobs that probably just didnt clean their old drivers up first

Not sure why the OP stated this wasn't available online...the price is the same as well has BB has a link to the $50 MIR per the OP's own link to BB's page.

Here's the link to the online rebate:

BFG $50 Rebate @ BB

One thing to make this a little hotter is that supposedly BB has a customer weekend coming up starting 10/10/03...10% coupons coming via snail mail (per chubby wallet)...

So you'd be looking at $274.99 - $27.49 (10% coupon) - $50 MIR= $197.50. Definately pretty smoking.

Are you reffering to the vid cards that plainly stated features like "see through walls" and "you're going to lose if you go up against <cardname>"? I thought that was ATI who did that, not nVidia.

The 5600 ULTRA card will be way cheap this weekend also. $174.99 minus 10% equals $158 and then a $70 rebate. $88 for a decent card is pretty hot. Performs just about the same as a 9600 PRO......🙂

uhm not a myth... 9600 pro does not even support the latest ATI drivers from the website. you have to use the outdated drivers available on the cd. n00b is someone who speaks without ever having experienced first hand.

no s$ you're supposed to uninstall the nvidia drivers first.

You have to read the rebate very carefully. You may wind up screwing yourself by taking a discount before the rebate.

Thx for the warning, however don't see anything on the rebate form that would exclude the validity of the purchase/rebate.

Did one better, as I found an open box at my local BB. Going to go back on Sat to do a return/rebuy with the 10% coupon, then send in the rebate. So it would be $274.99- $27.49 (10% open box discount) - $24.74 (10% Customer Appreciation Coupon) - $50 MIR= $172.76 +tax. Great buy. Thx OP!

Definitely read the rebate about open box discounts. I believe I read that pricematches will void a warranty.

It made a major difference after I used driver cleaner. I was shocked at how crap the regular uninstall leaves behind.

But in all honesty this is pretty good deal for the price. Some people expected that Nvidia would support price drops on its cards, and some even felt that Nvidia would be wise to do so and that it would give Nvidia a clean slate.

Thx again, but it's not a pricematch. It's a return/rebuy. I'm not PM'ing a competitor, just returning and rebuying from BestBuy using their coupon.

Oh, I forgot to mention in my earlier post that one of the sales guys was trying to talk me into purchasing an open box ATI 9600 stating that it would be faster than the BFG 5900

They once told me Emachines could install a AGP slot into the computer after i bought it, if a needed one, I couldn't convince him otherwise. As the saying goes, the difference between a car salesperson and a computer salesperson is that the car salesperson knows they're lieing.

I am very suspicious of the "May not combine with any other offer" language.

How is the 10% off coupon not "another offer"?

I think you guys are going to be disappointed, but what do I know?
