Once a day according to the doc and once every 2 days is not often enough (which is where I was at).

Hey guys, gals, there's nothing wrong with discussing this sort of thing. Too many similar issues like this are repressed uneccessarily, and as a result, they go undiagnosed or unnoticed. I'm in a similar situation to drac747, except maybe worse. Ever gone 72hrs without #2?
My mom makes zucchini bread - sounds bad, but believe me, it isn't. It's very sweet, with raisins and nuts; you don't even notice the shredded zucchini. That stuff cleans ya out really good. It really is very good stuff to eat.

Just take a fiber supplement: Metamucil or many generic equivalents (I stock up on CVS brand when it's on sale). Many benefits to high fiber diet.

Thats the problem is that those OTC synthetic ones are bad for your intestines and your not supposed to take them daily.

I've started eating a bowl of shredded wheat daily now (or at least when I remember).

72hrs?!! wow!

The doctor told me about a case where they had to do surgery to remove impacted stool of a patient. It had been so long it had dried out and become like rocks and the person was in danger of dying because of the toxins released into the blood.

Eat some shredded wheat too. My problem is I eat very little fiber if any because I love eating meat so much :)

I think if you have a nice high power water hose, a bath tub, a vacuum cleaner and some old towels, I'm sure there are plans on the Internet to do that yourself at home ;)

Well, that is complete BS. There is nothing harmful in OTC fiber laxatives that preclude them from being used on a daily basis. Stop speaking out of your @ss:)o sorry for the pun, couldn't resist)
