*Hot* 7900GS OEM (From Woot)

I just saw this over on Woot.com:

how's this compare to a 7900gt? (i konw it'll be a bit underpowered, but by how much) For this price you could SLI two of em.

Judging by the specs, it should be on par with the 7800GT, I could be wrong though. 3dmark scores were pretty high, on 3dmark05 it scored above 7000 and 06 scoring above 3000

looks like it's just a bit below the 7900gt there... i went for two. I'll see if i like it in SLI. If not, off to fleabay i suppose.

Actually it's got faster memory and a little higher core clock but it's only 20 x 7 instead of 24 x 8 (1 quad and 1 vertex shader disabled) so the gtx should be faster. Should definitely beat a 7800 gt tho and at 140$ thats a steal. I'm a little bit leary of the price since even tell wants 200$ for the card as an upgrade over a base card in thier systems. I'd see this as more of a 200ish card compaired to the rest of the line. Inbetween the 7900 gt and the 7600 gt right where it's performance should be.

Screw it, I bought 2 as well to SLI. 😀

I know you just copied from woot, but could ya maybe put the links for the drivers there just in case? Seems a little odd the way it is now.

Hmm, sounds interesting, I ordered one. Based on the specs it should be marginally faster than a 7800gt, and for $145 it's a no brainer. Thanks OP.

omg...man i want to jump on this so bad. I did some searches on google, this seems pretty decent. The retail is supposed to be $179-$200, but this is only 90 day warranty and oem. What is MSI normal warranty?

btw the main difference between this and the 7900gt is that the 7900gs has 20 pipelines and 7 vertex compared to 24 and 8 in 7900GT

dragoon42, can you provide some link for the $179 retail package? thanks in advance

I wish i could find it again. I ran across it when I was doing some info searching. I think it was from the Powerup forums. Other then that I didn't find out too much info. Man I'm wanting one of these so bad, but I gotta resist. Need to wait till october to upgrade instead of now =(

Welcome to AT, now it's killing me:

Dr. Richard Kimble = "The Fugitive"
Detective John Kimble = "Kindergarten Cop"

Who's Det. Richard Kimble?
