hotbuyselectronics.com is selling the Konica-Minolta DIMAGE Scan Elite 5400 II (not to be confused with the original 5400 version) 35mm film/negative scanner for $489.98 plus about $27 shipping----normal retail is $600 or more, and best price I found anywhere else was around $525 plus shipping if you can even find it in stock. Got great reviews in several digital imaging mags I read--highest scan resolution and fastest scan times for a non-commercial scanner.

Called the company to check my order and it turns out that Konica-Minolta is getting completely out of the photo business, including this scanner, and will not be shipping anymore so it will be generally unavailable---Just announced yesterday afternoon.

So the deal is DEAD, at least at this vendor. You may be able to find them closeout somewhere else. Sorry for the faulty post.

Update---this scanner is still available from PCNation.com for $539 with free 3 day Fedex shipping, as of 11:45 am Central 1/20/06. And they have a reseller rating of 6.81. The guy on the phone was quite polite and persosnally was going to see to it that my order got out today.
