we need some "FAQ" on top of the forum -- TigerDirect spells "poor service", "no pay for rebate", etc.

Hmm, I was interested... but:
1. I've never heard of proview before
2. From the little posts I've read here, tigerdirect apparently sucks...

So, thanks but no thanks.

Well Proview is about as bad of a monitor money can buy. At least in my experience. I've used several, all of which are trash. (ranging from 15" to 19" CRT's, and seen a few LCD's in action)

For an 18" LCD that 's a good price.

However, the ProView, KDS, and MAG are all the same monitors. At least the 17" with the built in speakers appear to be the same. I had a chance to checkout the Proview and KDS side by side at Microcenter and they were identical. I then checked out the MAG at Best Buy and it also appeared to be identical. In fact if you scroll down the page ( Home > Monitors > LCD Flat Panels - 18") at tigerdirect you'll see that the Proview is the same monitor.

So what ???

You might want to widen your search for deals; and, you might check out the reviews of the other siblings to make sure its what you want . The KDS, Proview, MAG wasn't for me.

If you don't want to buy from tigerdirect you may be able to PM to other stores. I know that Circuit City was willing to PM to Costco etc.

Good Hunting!

45ms is slow. look for 20-30ms. Also, as far as total image quality, I'd have to agree that the Mag isn't that good (assuming they're the same, proview probably sucks as well). Mitsubishi seems to make (or rebrand) some really awesome LCDs though... keep an eye out for their products.
