I've had my eye on an electric projector screen for awhile (mostly for the "cool" factor of having it drop out of the ceiling automatically) but the cost of the screen plus the cost of shipping has been too far out of my target budget. Most places want $100+ to ship the screen to you and the screen itself is usually in the $300+ range. After doing some research I found the Elite 100" 16:9 Electric Projector screen for $155.12 plus shipping. Shipping worked out to $39.50 for ground, for a grand total of $194.62. That's right folks - an 8'+ electric projector screen for under $200 shipped! It has a few nice features:

-49" x 87.2" 16:9 widescreen (100" diagonal)
-Integrated IR receiver with basic remote control (add to your Logitech Harmony remote!)
-Built-in 12V trigger (syncs with your projector)
-Quiet motor
-Bubble-level included
-Ceiling or Wall mountable
-160-degree wide viewing angle with 1.1 gain
-Programmable adjustable vertical positioning
-Has the word "Elite" in it (hehe)
-10" top mask, 3" bottom mask
-MaxWhite screen material (easy to clean)
-65" x 90.2" screen size
-Black casing
-Ships fully assembled
-Standard 3-prong power plug, plug-and-play
-1-year warranty (might be 2 years, not 100% sure)

Here are a couple user reviews off Tiger Direct

I've just installed this screen - it was really a breeze! Shipment was quick, and arrived in perfect condition. The motor is quiet, although just a bit slow. I had planned on buying a unit twice as expensive, but saw this one and decided to give it a try. A tremendous value for the price, and a great viewing experince too!

I couldn't find any feedback on the internet for this screen so I went out on a limb and bought it anyways. Glad I did. The screen arrived with a slightly bent corner where it mounts to the wall. Though alarming, this was corrected easily with pliars. Installation only took about 30 minutes! (Got lucky w/ stud locations) You must supply your own mounting screws/anchors from any hardware store. First, and most importantly, the image looks WONDERFUL! I am using a Mitsubishi HD1000u projector, ceiling mounted w/ 13' throw distance. Looks 10x better than my previous screen: the wall. It retracts quietly and slowly. The remote is a little shotty, and must be pointed directly at the unit. You must push stop at your desired height. I cannot speak for the longevity of this product, or its motor, as I've only had it for 3 weeks now. But I will say this so far: Nothing else comes close in price vs. performance. Buy it. And FYI, I am a professional projectionist.

I'll be mounting mine around Thanksgiving break, so look for a review from me around then 🙂

Very nice. If I didn't already have a screen, I would love to get it. Granted, it's only 4:3 and a manual one, but it works for me.

Mine arrived today! HOLY COW the box is long! I played around with it a little...the power cord seems kind of short, so I think they're assuming you've got a ceiling power receptacle to plug it into. I'd recommend an extension cord as most people probably don't have this. The screen is very slow. I didn't time it but it probably took 60 seconds to drop. On the plus side it's incredibly quiet, even up close. You can hear the motor purring and the screen dropping down, but it's not loud or obtrusive in the least. Very nice! Remote works fine, comes with 12V adapter as well so your projector can trigger it. The remote has an up, stop, and down button. If you press the down button, it fully extends. You can stop it anywhere you like tho; there is 10" of top masking so if you want it a little higher up you can stop it earlier. I'm planning on mounting it around Thanksgiving so I'll be back with some photos then. Can't wait to fire up some movies on it! 😀

Nice find 🙂 The Screen linked to is the 16:9 jalaram. The White case'd unit is the 4:3.

I may pick 1 up for the upstairs, as I am pretty happy with my 106" DW screen downstairs. Thanks for the link!

That's me. 🙂 He was addressing me about the screen being 16:9. I know the screen in the OP is 16:9 and electric. I was referring to my current screen being 4:3 and manual. I.e. since I already have one, I can't justify buying another one. 🙁

Oh haha, that made me confused, I'm like I thought it was a 16:9 screen, not a 16:9 jalaram. Oh boy...

So tempting. I am going to take measurements tonight and see if I can pull the projector in enough to get 100"

Is a 1.1 gain enough? I have seen alot with a 1.6 gain...but I don't know how big of a deal that is.

How bright is your projector and how dark is your room? My LT150 is only 800 lumens and my living room blinds do only an okay job. So, I got a high gain Dalite Model B for my screen.

I have an optoma dv11 i got from circuitcity with a free 92 inch screen but the free screen is a mail in thing, have to wait upto 10 weeks!

I plan on buying the epson 1080P UB model once it hits the streets in the usa, might jump on this for fun with the dv11 and test it with the epson once those hit the street in December.

Who knows maybe I will end up liking it enough to keep for the epson, but anything has to be better than a tan wall or a white bedsheet (both of which I have currently been trying and using) with this dv11...

Bill 🙂

Better than a tan wall? Probably. However, don't know the white bedsheet idea. I think I've some DIY screens use it as a material.

ordered 1, for an incoming panny2000

btw buy.com is 10 dollars more with shipping, essentially a wash if using google checkout.

Didn't wanna mess around with using another credit card to get the buy.com price and it turns out I had a provantage account already... no clue why or what i ordered from there in the past.

Anyway hope it ships quick and doesnt suck.

thnx, op.

2days for me as well, cept mine was doa. working with elite to get it worked out, they think its a blown fuse. joy.
I talked my buddy into coming and helping me put it up, under the pretense of watching the Rangers on a 100in screen. Needless to say he was way more pissed than i was about the whole thing.

Wife summed it up so well, she asked me why I assumed things would work like they are supposed to.

Aww man that stinks! I'm mounting mine over my Thanksgiving break. My motor seems to be working fine though, I tested it the day it arrived. What a bummer...let us know what happens!
