Hot: 120GB Western Digital 7200RPM 2MB Cache $29 AR - Legit Version

I know there are several posts on how to try to sneak away with the 8MB Cache version of this drive...

Well this is a 100% legit version of the 2MB drive.

Print out this flyer and this summary from Microcenter. Take them into Best Buy where you'll find the same exact drive (model numbers match) for $249 - $100 WD mail in rebate - $20 Best Buy mail in rebate.

Price match down to $149 and you've got yourself the 120GB 7200RPM 2MB for $29 + tax on $150.

Best Buy mail in rebates usually arrive in less than 6 weeks, compared to CompUSA and manufacturor rebates which take at LEAST 8 weeks.

Breakdown:
$249 @ BB
$149 after PM to Microcenter (compute sales tax here)
$49 after WD MIR (prints out @ BB when you buy the drive)
$29 after BB MIR (prints out @ BB when you buy the drive)

One rebate requires the capacity sticker and one requires the UPC.

Good luck, as always, YMMV

THIS DEAL SHOULD WORK! I DID IT MYSELF!

It says 8mb cache and it did not state anywhere that it's $149.

The flyer is a misprint.

Look at the detailed summary link that I provided. It's legit. BB called MC for confirmation.

bestbuy WILL NOT PRICE MATCH ANY ONLINE COMPANIES so don't waste your time
get the maxtor 80gig 7200rpm for an easy $80 instead...

Microcenter has Brick and Mortar stores. There's one in my area, Cambridge Mass. They called them and verified.

MC is NOT INTERNET ONLY!!!

Confirmed with my local MC that the deal goes beyond today. However, will BB honor the rebates when the receipt shows the purchase price of only 149?

They should. They know that managers can sometimes change prices for extenuating circumstances, and they give us the benefit of the doubt.

Bestbuy does not pricematch internet ads period, i tried this once before. The drive at Microcenter looks like its $149 after rebate, not before. Someone needs to call them and see 🙂

A clear case of how you should think before you speak

This deal will only work if you have a MicroCenter B&M store closed to BB B&M store, and you find a good BB manager who will happy to do it for you.

For the umpteenth time...

Best Buy called Microcenter to verify that the drive was in fact $150 and that no rebates were involved.

It checked out and they cut the price down to $150 instantly at Best Buy. My two rebates printed out and I walked away a happy man.

You can print out the flyer and bring it in, that's acceptable because it's not an Internet-ad, it's a B&M flyer.

Then why not just buy it from microcenter since the $100 off is a WD rebate?

check that, nevermind, its a BB rebate. This is likely a mistake and ymmv?

The Microcenter price has been that way all week, so it's not a mistake. The Best Buy rebate started today and is valid until 9/21

All legit, like I said

i wonder how close you have to be to PM to MC. the closest MC to my house is 60 miles.

also, anyone have any luck at the Woodland Hills, CA store?

hey guys, the $100 Western Digital manufacture rebate is sending to

WD120GB/ $100 MIR
P.O. Box 5235
Young America, MN 55558-5235

Is Young America reliable??? I mean I trust Westen Digital's rebate, but last time when I bought the 100 GB WD HD from Fry's electronics, the rebate also went to Young America, but they rejected my rebate and my friend's rebate as well, did anybone get the rebate from Young America, MN???

I'm gonna go do this first thing in the morning! If this goes okay I will rank it as one of the best deals I've ever gotten! I am lucky enough to have TWO Best Buy's within 10 minutes of me, one of which is two blocks from MicroCenter. As for the YoungAmerica thing, I am not sure how good they are with rebates.

Oh yeah, one more thing about the requirement,

The $100 WD Manufacture MIR needs:

This Rebate Form
Copy of Receipt
Western Digital Capacity label cut from front of box

can somebody explain what this means???? does that mean that I don't have to cut out the UPC barcode for this manufacturer rebate??? because the $20 BB rebate requires these:

This Rebate Form
Copy of Receipt
Original UPC from Box

So can anyone tell me how to do these rebates???? does that mean I can only get one of these rebates?????? I am confused, can somebody help me????

Thanks in advance

I sure hope Young America's rebate is good, because it's $100, it's a lot to swallow if it doesn't come back

In another AT thread, it was posted, and generally agreed on that Young America rebates are really, really lousy. A lot of people claim to have never gotten the rebate, so buyer beware.
