Forget Thompson Distributing!

Walgreens (an Eckard-like store) has the Energizer AccuRecharger for $19.99-10.00(MIR)=9.99. It charges NiCD AND NiMH batteries, and INCLUDES 2 energizer NiMH batteries.

Also, CompUSA has a special - buy one pack of Ravock NiMH 1300 mAH AA or AAA (4 pack) batteries for $13, get a second one free.

So, here's the deal:

Recharger + 2 batteries: $10
1st 4 pack 1300 mAh NiMH batteries: 13
2nd 4 pack: free
3rd 4 pack (optional) : 13
4th 4 pack: free
________________
total: $23 for 10 batteries + recharger or $36 for 18.

these are high quality NiMH batteries (1300 mAh) from trusted vendors - B&M ones!

This is the best deal on these by FAR!

I don't know about these Rayovac batteries. I buy Sanyo AA 1200mah (they are underrated) Industials from Hosfelt for $1.99 each. They have chargers from about 7 bucks. In the catalog they have 1600mah Sanyo for ~$2.60. Sanyo makes the MAHA batteries. Hosfelt has good deals on lots of electronic supplies. Not much is listed on their site, but their catalog is packed. They have the best deals on wallwarts I've ever seen, I bought a .8A 6V regulated for $4.50.
go to: http://www.hosfelt.com/

No affiliation. Just a happy customer

Went to CompUSA to get the batteries. Also on the RayOVac rack they had a $9.99 recharger and a coupon for up to $8.99 off of it with purchase of it and batteries. So I got 2 of them and the batteries. This charger supposedly does NiMH, NiCad and rechargable alkaline.

So, a $1 (after rebate) to go with your 2 for 1 batteries!

Enjoy!

How good are these battires? I mean how long will they run a Digital camera? The normal (non rechargable) last for maybe an hour.

Flatpicker - I don't see the rechargers on that site.

Batteries aren't marked as sanyo, are they?

thanks

1200/1300 mAH batteries last for about 75 - 85 shots on a digital camera.

If you need NiMH batteries fast, Radio Shack has a 4-pack of 1500 mAH batteries for $17.99. Also, RS sells a quick charger for NiCD and NiMH batteries that can charge them in one hour. This charger is $27.99 at the store. I've noticed the batteries get a little warm during the charging process, though.

Thanks for posting this deal -- I'll head over to get 8 batteries tomorrow.

Just a heads up...BJ's Wholesale still has the Panasonic 1600mAh NiMH kits for $25.00 - $5.00 MIR = $20.00. Includes 6 AA and 2 AAA and fast recharger (5 hours). For an additional $12.50 you can get 6 more AA seperately which are right next to the kits on the shelf. $32.50 for 14 1600mAh is not bad. I bought them last week and they performed beautifully over Christmas picture taking.

Yes they are the Sanyo industrial/OEM batteries. The 1200mah are the same as the 1350 Olympus, and the 1600's are the same as the new premium high power pink MAHA batteries. The 1600's and the chargers aren't on the site but they are in the catalog. I've tried just about all the NiMh batteriues in my digicams and SWL equip, the Sanyo batteries can't be beat. The 1200mah last about as long as the 1600's in low drain apps. For digicams the 1600's last longer.

I sure would appreicate a couple of rebate coupons for the rechargers (or links to same), as my compUSA didn't have them.

Regards to all, Dave

DaveH, if you bought the charger yesterday or today you are out of luck.
The rebate form says "Offer Expires 12/31/00". Therefore, you would have needed to purchase by 12/30/00 to qualify.

That usually means you need to buy by 12/31 to qualify, not by 12/30. I think he would be fine.

Sams club has NiMH batteries and charger for $25
Includes 6-AA, 4 AAA and charger.

Charger is slow, 15Hr timer controlled.

Will charge AA, AAA and 9V NiMH and NiCD batteries.

One more note on the CompUSA deal. There is a $5 rebate (it is in the form of a store check) from Rayovac if you buy the two packs of 4-AA or 4-AAA. The rebate was with the batteries on the display shelf. It says "Rayovac Holiday Savings, up to $20". Offer good until 1/31/2001 and you need the original form.

They are obviously not the best batteries out there, but at about a buck each, so it seems hard to beat.

Why do so many people rag on Thomas Distributing?????
The answer is simple really. Not very knowledgeable....
I say that because of 2 simple things. "Energizer AccuRecharger", and it's not Thompson, but Thomas.

First off, forget about the 2 batteries that come with the charger in this deal. They are the Energizer AccuRecharger, which are known well to the long time digital camera users. They are too fat, and can get stuck in the tight battery compartments that many camera's have. This has caused expensive damage to many digital camera's. If you have doubts, check out some of the forums for digital cameras. Even if you did go that route, most camera's use 4 batteries at a time, so you would need multiples of 4, and 10 would not get you there. Also, 1300mAH batteries will not last squat if you have a LCD display and use the flash often. If you don't use flash, and can turn off LCD, then 1300mAH will do.

So how does this deal on low power batteries compare to high power batteries that digital camera users actually use? The company everyone loves to hate, Thomas, has high power AA batteries. 12 batteries rated at 1550mAH, (and actually tested out at 1650mAH to 1700mAH), would set you back only $29.40, or $9.80 each 4 pack. These have up to 30% more power than the 1300mAH batteries.
Powerful batteries

With 3 sets of batteries, you can then afford the time and benefits of a slow overnight charger. These allow you to constantly leave a set in the charger, due to the low charge rate. This low charge rate will also help the batteries last the longest, as fast chargers are the batteries #1 cause of shortened life. With this method, you will always have 3 sets ready to go. A simple charger from Thomas only costs $7.90.
Slow charger

Total for 12 real batteries and charger $37.30. No rebate required like other deal, which is $46 before $10 rebate. I've been using this combo for more than 2 years now, and with this method, the batteries are still as good as the day I got them, even after taking 1000's of photos with digital camera.

Last of all, not only Thomas, but many, many sites now have decent pricing on quality batteries and chargers. At less than $10 for a set, who wants to take a chance with a $500 to $1000 camera? It's not like you are saving a ton of money by shopping for battery deals. I recommend Thomas due to their web site and service, and all the helpful knowledge you will get from them. Even if you buy quality batteries elsewhere, their site will help make you a smarter, more knowlegable shopper, which is a better deal than saving a buck or 2 on a set of batteries.

<< Why do so many people rag on Thomas Distributing????? >>

is it because people who work for them (RobsTV) keeps on bragging about their store!

Your 1550's won't last much long than the 1300's. most rechargables' actually capicity are bigger than their spec ones, and I rather pay 40% less than get 250 more mah.

stop selling your own store

BJ's Wholesale club is a warehouse club like Costco. The locations vary and may not be located in each market within the U.S.

To find out if one is near you, then visit their site: BJ's Wholesale Club

i don't care about the other replies, if you want to get these for a camera, or something (say a slave flash), you are better off with 1500 to 1600 mAH batteries or higher since cameras are high drain devices. 1300 mAH is good for walkmans, calculators, discmans, and stuff, the lower mAH is good for remote controls since they are cheaper.

the prices at Thomas Distributing are not bad. not great, but not bad at all. and they have a selection too. no i don't work there.

Just got back from hauling my butt over to BJ's and scored one of those Panasonic NiMH packs. Excellent deal. The $5 rebate for this only states it must be submitted within 4 weeks of purchase.

Better than getting the 1600 Powerex's and the fast charger combo at Thomas. Would have been $41 and some change to get that combo from Thomas'. The slow charger combo would have been about the same cost as the Panasonic pack.

Oh and the Panasonic pack had 2 AAA's and casings to use the AA'a as C's or D's.

And instant gratification....

Thanks CyBrShRk for the heads up!
