Hi All,
I plan to make a website - I plan to use godaddy.com to register a domain ($8.95/year) and use hostfire.com for hosting ($19.95/year) for a grand total of only $30 to have my page up on the net for a year. I've heard godaddy.com is reputable but does anyone have experience with hostfire.com? I don't want any pop-up ads or ad banners on this site.

I'm good with Unix, perl, and html, but outside of that, I know nothing about putting together a website. Any advice, recommendations?

Thanks!

why would you need domain forwarding?

i use godaddy for my domain, and 3-95.com for hosting. you can just change the DNS information in godaddy and have it point to your domain. No extra charge

Thanks Rallispec.

Is 3-95 pretty reliable and fast?

I guess your webpage in your sig is running off 3-95... nice car :)

i love 3-95
its really fast and really reliable

if you go to my webpage, rallispec.net (keep in mind its undergoing a massive overhaul) and go to the download's page-- there is a pretty big file if you want to test out the speed (assuming you have a decent connection) i've seen people download at 1000+kbps. :)

for 4 bucks a month, i dont think it can be beat.

edit becuase my website is rallispec.net, not .COM. :(
