I see a bunch of mixed reviews around the forums. What's the good or bad word on hostnine for basic shared hosting?

Not really, which is why I'm seriously considering HostPC on recommendation from one of your other threads RossMAN :D

What's your budget?

Do you currently have a free ATOT hosting account? If you do, how much disk space/bandwidth are you using?

That's just the thing - I don't have anything yet. I'm fairly HTML ignorant so I'm trying to stumble my way through things.

Registering a domain and web hosting is the easiest part.

The HTML part isn't but there are a few easy alternatives for the HTML challenged:

1) CMS - demos

2) cPanel with Fantastico or DirectAdmin with Installatron can easily install scripts such as Wordpress, gallery, forums, etc. You can install any of those scripts with a few clicks of your mouse in about 10 seconds. If you'd like a free demo, PM me and I'll give you a login to try it out.

3) Open Source Web Design is freakin' awesome and FREE!

4) EasySite is only $5 and makes creating websites quick and easy.

5) Some web hosts offer a website builder (such as RVSiteBuilder) for FREE.

6) Hire a web designer.

7) Notepad.

It all depends on what you plan on doing with your website and what kind of content it will have?

Hope that helps

If you can afford a whopping FIVE DOLLARS I would consider CookieHost.com's Hot Deal

Hmm Eric mentions he is taking on the burden of the free accounts. I sh'ant burden him further.

Nice pointer to cookiehost but looks like *nix only. I need Windows hosting unless I feel like playing with the .net port sometime.

But thanks!

Hosting AT'ers for free is definitely a burden. That's all I'm going to say on the matter :)

JodoHost.com offers .Net hosting and ColdFusion web hosting starting at $6.95 per month

I would definitely recommend HostPC as well. It is tough to beat them for budget hosting.

Reading the reviews... I'm definitely leary of hostnine.
