Hosting Your Own Photo Gallery

Is anyone hosting their own gallery and not using Picasa, Flickr, Smug? What are you using? So far, I'm liking Gallery3 and there are modules that let password protect albums and galleries.

What about you?

Back when I did, I also used Gallery. Seemed like the nicest of the options available. It was also integrated with cPanel on my hosting provider, so it was easy to install or nuke if needed. Lots of scripts and templates available too.

This was several years ago now, so I don't know what all has changed. I just use Picasa web albums nowadays.

Did you stop because you didn't like the maintenance of using Gallery? I want access to my full res photos and the ability to password protect albums. I'd go Flickr but paying the pro membership doesn't seem appealing if i'm already paying for hosting.

Not really. More like I wasn't really using the hosting service outside of a private family blog and picture gallery. Since there are free options that work just as well for those simple purposes, I no longer saw the point in paying for such a service. Not having to maintain anything or migrate content for new versions was just a bonus.

Actually, I really appreciate being able to upload directly to PicasaWeb from several different photo management apps (WLPG, Picasa, Lightroom, etc...). Something not nearly as easily/simply provided via a custom host.
