I have a friend who's looking for a hosting provider for his small business. He nor I am able to create websites but could possibly hire someone for a simple site.

He's looking for a hosting company with a $200/yr budget. He doesn't share large size video files that he makes for close friends so bandwidth is a somewhat important issue. Can you guys give me some recommendations please.

Am slightly confused on one point - is the $200/year budget to include site design as well, or simply hosting?

If the latter is the case, be certain to read through this thread at GottaDeal.com. Idologic seems to be offering a very affordable package at the moment; and from the few reviews I have read, they seem a very stable and customer oriented host.

Also, as I am certain others will point out, RossMAN is an invaluable member worth contacting regarding hosting information. Contact information available here.

Good luck.

I also recommend Idologic.com which is one of my favorite web hosts.

Another recommendation is BlueWho.com which is silghtly above your $200/yr budget but they are a top notch operation.

Choosing a web host a big decision and you want to make the right choice, not based on price. WebHostingTalk.com is the AT of the web hosting world. Also make sure to check out their web hosting offers forum, just be aware that 90% of those companies should be avoided if you want premium quality hosting.

I've been with them for years and have never had a single complaint. Prices are awesome, service is awesome, speed is great, downtime is nonexistant, space:money:bandwidth ratio is more than fair, and they offer a free editor so any old knucklehead can build a website.
If said knucklehead is so inclined to learn some html and can grab some javascripts, he can build a very nice site.

The web hosting offers forum? It works for me.

Please remember you get what you pay for. Go with a company who is an actual registered business, with at least 2 paid employees, and has a proven record of integrity, reliability and good support. Otherwise you'll end up hosting with a teenager running it out of their parents basement.
