I will need to find a new host as well.

What would be the best way to go about the domain name ?
Also If I were to transfer to 1and1 would I be able to use that domain name with any webhost ?

I have read lots of horror stories of people using 1and1 for their domain registrar. I would stick with namecheap if I were you.

what about a hosting solution ?
I was with Ripplehost with 100mb storage and 1gb bandwidth for 9.99 a year.


They were fast initially but now they seem very sluggish. *not a complaint*

anything faster with similar cost ?
I just need something so I can do my personal pic hosting and for few friends of mine.

I wouldn't use one and one for hosting, have some experience with their control panel and its a PITA, and really slow for some reason(might just be my server or something). that said I wouldn't use them as a registrar either, stick with namecheap. For hosting I think deviustrap was giving some small accts here away for free if your site isn't big. Your domain name is probably locked anyway(think it locks a week or so b4 it expires.)so might as well keep it there.

cuz they won't let me double up on my original domain name 🙁

so for 9.99 i'll be getting 100mb and 2gb transfer instead of the Double hosting they are offering right now.

Plus they've gotten really sluggish as of late.
