It's like any other machine. If you have shadetree or shitforbrains mechanics turning wrenches, your engines stall a lot and smoke. The smoke does serve a purpose to prevent excessive brain corruption from the political forums.

Hostess was never very good. Their stuff tastes like rubber. Tastykake is where it's at.

They were good once upon a time, or so I was told. I had a history teacher back in high school who would go on small diatribes once in awhile on the Hostess cupcakes. He said back when he was a kid (so late 50s, early 60s) the cream was the consistency of real whipped cream. Now you can taste and feel in the texture all the preservatives they add to it.
