Hosted Phone Service

Does anyone here have any experience with a hosted phone service? Currently our company has our own internal PBX. The problem is, management is wanting our phone service to have much more features than it currently has. So I've been looking into going VOIP for a few months. Rather than spending about $20-30,000 on a new phone system, new phones, etc, I've been looking at the idea of a hosted phone service with a local CLEC. Basically, we have a T1 in our office that goes directly to theirs where all the phone switching equipment is and we pay one monthly fee and they give us phones, phone system, etc without having to buy all the equipment ourselves.

For me, the top priority is call quality and reliability so I'm wondering if anyone has done this or is doing this and how the experience is? So far to me, it's sounding like a very good idea.

kevnich2, I wouldn't do this.

I guess it really depends on the CLEC. If they're smart and reliable, then it could be okay. If they're the lowest cost player...

There are Centrex options, but I have never been a fan of them. As for managed/hosted voice, I don't think the market is stable and robust enough yet for business class service.

The CLEC in question is a completely cisco certified facility with dual connections through XO Communications and Level3. I will admit, I'm still a little skeptical. I love VOIP, but I also TRUST circuit switched phone systems. Voip is too new for me to really trust it yet.
