Actually I just added a second link from the BBC that says they're Chechen separatists (Muslims) which was my first thought. Technically not Middle Eastern I guess, but Muslim nonetheless.

Yeah same thing I think Moscow should get about 150 special forces and surround the place, wait a little while to see what happens, and if any more shooting occurs storm the place like it's going outta style.

Actually, about 15 people hold more than 1K. And these 15 guys shout they don't want the war in Chechnya to stop, b/c it's their bread and butter, and thus they want to wage a new tide of attacks. They say there are also mines and bombs and the stuff.
