Host header in http 1.0?

Is the host header part of HTTP 1.0? I looked at RFC 2616 and 1945 and get the impression that it is not.

Nope. AFAIK, the host header is a HTTP 1.1 addition.

In that case, akamai sucks... rather than return a 400 bad request, they should return a not implmemented or something when receiving an HTTP 1.0 request. :|
