host fix for setiq

cory

Senior member

the hosts fix for setiq does not seem to work for me
can someone post the proper hosts file.
(the machines are running 3.03 that are connecting to
it)

well i must been day dreaming or something
cause i had a bad entry in my hosts file and
just fixed it and it dumped about 34 wu.

Assim1 - what error are you getting? Some folks are reporting an error -1... (but that might be from an unrelated problem). Also some reported that they had to reboot after adding the hosts file...

Are you guys doing this to stay with the old version of SetiQ? If so, the new version is GREAT!

It does have a results.log file, but it is in the Client directory and is in comma-delimit format. That makes it real easy to use in Excel and it include the Angle-Range.

With beta2 Ken has added remote flushing via sq.exe.

my hosts file looks like this

128.32.18.166 shserver.ssl.berkeley.edu
128.32.18.166 shserver2.ssl.berkeley.edu

and resides in the windows dir.

i am going to use this setiq version for awhile.
i have about 244 wu sitting there and
i dont know what happens to them when i upgrade.
will it use them or will it fetch new ones and just throw those
away? i also wanted the remote flush and status check.

Thanks ,I've managed to fix it now ,I was missing the line of the old name!😱
Also you can't use WU's from the old Q in the new 1 ,you have to run it dry (or delete them)

JWM
Beta2 fixes the things I didnt like about it ,no manual/remote connect ,I will switch IF the format & info of the result log in Beta2 is at least as good as the old SETIQ.Beta1 result log format sucked big time!.

Actually, there's a pretty easy way to transfer your WU's to the new SETIQ from the old version...

Just install the new version in a different directory than the old one, point the new Q's proxy address to the old Q, set the buffer settings to a really high number (high enough to get all of the work from the old Q), set the new Q to listen on a different port than the old one for now, then configure one client connect to the new Q to get it going, and download all of the WU's from there and you're set. 😀

Of course, you'll then have to reset the proxy and buffer size settings to what you want them to be on a permanent basis, but you can then have the new Q 'listen' on the same address and port as the old one was using so that you don't have to reconfigure any of your clients except for the one used to start the Q for the first time.

Cool directions Fardringle! I just saved the text of your message for when I get chance to upgrade my Setiqueue to the new one... 🙂

Well, considering I manually converted a half-dozen WU's to the new format (anybody else tried that?-if not, DON'T!! 😛) before realizing that I could just do it the way I described here, so yes, that is an EASY way do to it... 😉
