anyone know of any programs to find out the host name of a cable modem service,
i tried using winipcfg.exe but the host name comes out distorted like it cannot show all of it in the fixed amount of white space

If you mean the hostname of your local machine, just type &quot;ping loopback&quot; in a DOS window. It should return &quot;Pinging hostname [127.0.0.1] with 32 bytes of data: (blah, blah)
