There was an episode of Bonanza on Nick a little while ago where Hoss wrestles a bear (ok, guy in a suit) to death.

It was sort of funny and shocking at the same time.

Don't get excited by the number of views of your post. About 5 out of 12 are mine. Oddly I continue to return, hoping that a light will come on and I'll finally know what to make of it. It certainly stimulates thought.

At the same time, any Cartwright could beat anyone or anything any day of the week. I'll agree with the "funny", but if you are a true Bonanza fan you should not be "shocked".

I have been watching a bit more of Bonanza lately.

That particular scene was just so incredulous. I was waiting to see Hoss fly afterwards.

Hoss was some Big strong man, Dan Blocker

Hoss was truly the "gentle giant of the Ponderosa".Dan Blocker came into the world on December 10, 1928 the only son of Shack and Mary Blocker. Weighing 14 pounds at birth, he is the largest baby ever born in Bowie County, Texas. At 13 he was a rugged 200-pounder and his scrapping talents
so delighted local townsmen they arranged regular weekly fights between "the big "un", as Blocker was nicknamed, and all comers. He eventually grew to stand 6 feet 3 inches tall, and usually weighed in at close to 300 pounds.
