Hospital Last Night

Aimster

Lifer
Was taking a shower last night and I slipped and I hit my head on the top of the toilet with my body weight and I fell back into the tub. At first I was like that hurt I stood up and I kept telling myself not to pass out because I felt like I would, but then I saw blood all over the place and I was getting worried.
Everyone in the house woke up when they heard my head hit the toilet and came to the door. I put on my PJs still soapy and bloody and I went to the hospital.

I have no insurance so they just asked me if I would like to apply for financial aid I said no. They said ok, so I wait and wait they call me to go to a room and I am waiting for 3 hours until I just go to sleep and they wake me up.

6 stiches and a tetnes (spl) shot.

On the way to the car the nurse asks me if I am ok because I was not (my face was white) and I told her I am going to pass out. They take my blood pressure and it is low so they lay me down give me orange juice and I take a wheelchair back to the car.

I used that new stuff for the tub with Teflon and it seems to work, but it is also very slippery.
I need to go buy one of those mats for the showers.

Glad I am OK. It could have been much more serious.

people hit their head on the soap holder thing all the time too... you're lucky someone was home.

What's with the teflon ???

What's with the teflon ???

I used this stuff my mom got. It says teflon on it. Supposedly it uses the same "technology or material" they use on pots and pans. I think it is made by Chlorox.

It's made for the bath so you don't get those ugly brown soap marks on the bottom of it.

I cannot be sure if it was them to blame or me. I should have scrubbed harder so it wouldn't stay on as much? I scrubbed until all the dirty soap marks were gone and then I turned on the water and let it go down the drain. While the water was running I was using the sponge to make sure I got it all.

That's how I've always been doing it.

But the thing is I took a shower after I cleaned it. This is the 2nd time after I cleaned it that it happend. So It could be the product and it could not be.

is teflon supposed to be used only for cleaning it or is it supposed to stay on so that stuff doesn't come back ? I need a solution for the latter.

This one was to clean and to stop the buildup of soap in the future.

They have a lot of teflon bath products out now by many manufactures. For bath, kitchen, tile, etc

I am glad you are OK, too. 🙂

Oddly enough, I've also been using that shower/ bath cleaner with added Teflon. Maybe I won't keep using it. I wonder if the company will get sued by lots of people with bumps on their heads?

I thought it was supposed to stay on, to protect against future stains?

No joke - a friend of mine died in the last 3 weeks from an accident exactly like yours. This guy was in good health, but slipped in the shower and broke his neck. This didn't kill him, though. After he was found hours later, he was rushed to the hospital and put on life support. Somehow he was able to communicate with his family, and he told them he didn't want to spend the rest of his life paralyzed on a respirator. Per his wishes, they allowed him to die.

wow... in an instant, your life is over... I am 50/50 about that decision...

The teflon stuff is for the toilet, not for the tub. THe whole poit of the teflon is it makes the surface slippery so dirt desn't stick to it. But of course it also makes your feet not stick either. I'd never use that in the tub..
