I wonder how many kids today ever drank from a lawn hose. You know, got that first nasty blast of warm hose water that shoots down your throat and out your nose and makes you feel like your head is going to explode.

I was a hose drinker.

I did too but I never drank unless I was outside and it was really hot and the water was already on.

i used to drink hose water after it got to the cold part all the time. I've got some people who come in to fill jugs from our hose because they have no running water at their cabin on the lake.

Not only did I do the hose thing, but I did the shower thing after surfing, too. And he's right, hose water is better.

I never drank it because of the rubber taste and the posibility of having lawn chemicals contaminating the water.

My neighborhood growing up had apple trees, pear trees, fig trees, grape vines, gardens...we never lacked for food or water.

Same here, I lived outside during the summer. It seems I went in only to eat and sleep.

There are places up in West Virginia where you can drink spring water coming right out of the mountain side. When I was a kid and would go spend summers up there with my grandparents I used to think this was the greatest thing. The water comes out ice cold year round and is amazingly clear. Whenever we go up there now I take along a bunch of gallon milk jugs and bring some back for the fridge.

Because fertilzer now flows from the lawn up into the hose (against the flow of water) and into the water supply, right?

When I was a kid my family used to go visit my grandparents in the mountains. Every day after dinner, my grandfather would take myself and my two younger brothers out for a walk. We'd pick blackberries and splash through the streams. There was a mountain spring we would go to. The water was ice cold, so cold it'd numb your hands. Those were the days. :)

Picking blackberries was great! :) Abandoned rail cuts always seemed to be a great place to find them. It's been so long since I have had home made blackberry preserves. :(

My girlfriend used to drink from my hose a lot. But she hardly does it anymore after the first time she got warm hose water shot up her nose. She's usually ready but that one time she wasn't expecting it. Oh well.

Wow, I thought everybody did that. My parents wouldn't let us in when we were all muddy from playing football.

It puts hair on your chest. ;)
