Have you ever had any horror stories with a certain laptop/laptop brand? Was the support good, but the product just sucked? Post em here!
This should be enlightening. :D:D

Well I'm sure RossMan still remembers my...umm... slight problem with my Dell Inspiron 8000. ;) I also had some trouble with my Inspiron 8200 though that got fixed because I made them send me the part so I could replace it myself. Right now I'm not particularly happy with Dell. There seem to be better choices.

I also had a HORRIBLE experience with a Sager a while back. That thing just had part after part fail. Powernotebooks.com did a good job fixing it while it was under warranty. At this point I'm begging the owner to just put it out of its misery and buy something new. For some reason it now locks up randomly and will not shut down properly.

I had some trouble with a REALLY old Compaq (original Pentium days) but I'm not going to complain too much because I'm typing this on my new Compaq Presario X1000 which, so far has REALLY impressed me (amazing bang for the buck, and no real problems).

I also had an IBM T40 (which I'm now selling) and it was very well built but video performance was just horrible. Even with a Radeon 9000 32MB it ran slow with major flaws. The most annoying thing was that it couldn't even run 2D emulators (NES, SNES, etc.) well. Also the LCD (SXGA+) was one of the worst I've seen on a recent laptop. It was only 50Hz, had poor brightness/contrast, and had a terrible pixel response time (major ghosting). Other than that I loved it but a nice LCD is important to me and the Compaq has a VERY nice one and runs quite a bit faster for less money so I'm keeping it.
