Horrifying artifact problem with 7800 GT SLI in Farcry with HDR

Other people have had this problem. I think the solution was to disable AA, because it interferes with HDR on NV40/G70 boards and Far Cry. It's due to how the HDR in Far Cry (and some other games) works. Source-engine based games should not have this issue.

yeah disable Anti Aliasing.....the only cards that can effectively do this type of HDR (OpenEXR.....is it FP16?) and Anti Aliasing at the same time are ATI's X1800's and X1900's

nvidia cards currently cant do AA and HDR, except in HL2 where Valve have worked hard to produce a decent HDR with good performance that works on any card with AA.

so try that first, if it still does it come back to us.

If you really want aa and HDR just sell your two cards and get a single x1900xt should be much better.

Try disabling AA like previously mentioned. No current Nvidia cards can do EXR HDR + AA at the same time, which unfortunately (in your case) is the HDR method used by Far Cry.

You might want to turn off HDR on that SLI system as well as I hear it can have problems.

I think enabling HDR + AA on a 6 or 7 series Geforce will simply result in a blank screen, but I'm not sure. IIRC, the problem described is a broken (optimisation?) profile in the driver, and renaming the FarCry.exe to anything else fixes the problem.

It doesn't cause a blank screen, but you will get strange see-through textures: Pic

But yeah it is a driver issue as I had similar artificats appear as well but changing the driver fixed it . . .
