Okay i got this horrible scratch on my car.. Thanks to my brother! Well, any detailing experts know how i can hide that eye sore? I know its impossible to make it dissappear without the help of professionals, but i am on a tight budget so i have to get down and dirty.

I plan to wash it and then use a glaze and sealer, and then finish it with a wax. I know that doesn't do much, but thats all i know. Anyone want to give me a hand?

I don't think you can do anything. Just drive your car to the repair shop and it will look brand new in a no-time again.

Watch late night info-mercials.

Somewhere, someone has some stuff that appeared to work very well, for just that kind of thing.

GS-27 i think is what it was called. And BTW..i think it had bad ratings or bad feedback. Our local tv station Fox-2 did a "fame or shame" and i think it went to shame.

my poor car, I saw the gs-27 on tv before and my friend tried it. HE said it basically works on White cars, other than that, its a waste of money. So no detailing tip to hide the scar?

that scratch was pretty harsh. Get a quote on the scratch or try buffing it out with wax or something.

Go to Pep Boys.

Find color of your car.

Buy apropriate color of paint.

Tape off section.

Clean area.

Spray.

Wet sand smooth.

Spray again.

Buff nicely.

Clear coat if desired.

Wax.

i was gonna say go to a detailing place to have it fixed, but if your feeling adventurous, do what lordmaul says.

how deep is it? When you run your fingernail over it is there areally deep groove or not? If it's not very deep you could get Meguiar's cleaner wax, or polish and try to smooth out the ridges. Then apply a few coats of a thick carnuba wax. If its real deep though you will most likely have to get it done by a pro, unless you feel like wet sanding.

wetsanding basically means you take a piece of regular 'ol sandpaper (not sure about what grit you should use... ask lordmaul), and get it wet... it looks a lot better that way.

you need "wet-or-dry" paper for wetsanding

hymm, when i run my fingers over it, i can feel the scratch alittle bit. Its not like a grooved surface though. I will try to glaze and wax first and see if theres any improvement. If not i guess its wetsanding or professional job:(

Waxing it probably won't do anything except make it a pain to get the paint to stick.

Wetsanding is when you take (as Colt45 said) wet-or-dry sandpaper of a VERY fine grain (usually it's black/gray, not brown) and lightly go over the paint with plenty of water on the surface to make it as smooth as possible, without scratching it.

Good lord that sucks. But it could have been worse. In the parking lot of Six Flags Astroworld, I saw a black mustang that had Bitch keyed into the door.

edit: It was big too. The letters looked to be about 8-10 inches tall and the word was about 18 inches long. You might join autopia and ask in the forums there about your scratch. link

The body shop may be able to buff out most of it if it isnt too deep. Otherwise its break out the bread time.
