Ok, so about a week ago i was playing half-life and up to that point i had a constant 99 fps, maybe 70 fps, if there was a smoke bomb or a lot of comotion in CS. Well I saw some new beta drivers for the 64 MB DDR VIVO Radeon, so i installed them. Then yesterday I noticed that at 640*480 resolution with OPENGL, i was droppign to as low as 20 FPS! I mean I have an axia 1.2 ghz, asus a7m266 with 256 DDR ram, and CS is running on a 7200 rpm hard drive. These are the same frame rates i was getting with my voodoo 3 on a amd k6-2. Im running XP, and i figured it was the drivers. So i did a clean install, uninstalled all the drivers by hand, even the inf files. Put back the old drivers off of ati's website. Same problem....so i then took out those drivers, and put back the one's from the xp cd. Same problems. So then I updated my via 4-1 drivers, and the agp driver for the via chipset. Same problem. I dont know what else to do. I even tweaked the drivers to there lowest quality best performance same problems. Dropping to 20 fps. If i set my fps_max in CS to 99, and if i even look down, at something constant in very close proximity, im fluctuating between 60-70 fps, when i used to get 99 constant! I have no clue what I can do here. I reinstalled the ATI opengl patch form CS, still same problems. I cannot think of what else I could do....please help, this has been driving me crazy, been trying to fix it for 6 hours to no solution.
