Horrible FPS in Flight Simulator X w/ R9 270

Title says it all. Just built a new machine and literally i am stuck at 9-12 fps.

The build is
XFX R9 270
8GB Vulcan 4x2 ram
AMD FX 8320 3.5ghz
1TB Seagate SATA drive

The machine is pretty solid. I am just shocked that my laptop had better FPS than this. I am not sure why this is happening, but i am wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same.

- all drivers and service packs have been installed.

FSX has horrible performance because it is mostly single threaded (though reportedly sorta dual-core capable). AMD modules probably can't run it across the whole module which means crappy performance.
