Horrible 3d mark scores HELP!

I overclocked my 7800GT to 510 MHZ on the core and 1.22 GHZ on the memory and i only scored 6578, how could this be and how can I bring up these scores?

How are the games? If they play smooth, and the machine is stable, then there are no worries!!

Check your settings. Most here bench with AA and other bits set to application controlled.

I know that 3dmark05 is *mostly* gpu based, but I think your processor has alot to do with your low score.

Your system profile says 1.5 GB PC3200 RAM -- sounds like you're using 3x512 DIMMs? On an AMD system this drops the command rate to 2T, which degrades performance noticeably (especially on benchmarks). I'd check your RAM timings in BIOS and see what is what.

I'm running AMD 3700+, 2x512MB pc3200 and a 7800GT and got a 7155 before I started OC'ing. I thought that was even a bit low...

Heh, you read the sig and then miss the bit that says P4....

But i think you can run dual channel RAM with 4 sticks of RAM, even if the two pairs are not the same as each other.

I have 2 256's and 2 512's if that helps at all and the timings were 3-3-3-8.

The ram timings and the speed of the cpu will bring you down a bit but the score is not that bad for your rig specs really.

the p4 is killing your scores. go on futuremark orb and search up socres for 3000mhz pentium 4 and 7800gt. the scores will be comparable.

Yes.

The difference in total score with, for instance, an A64 San Diego vs. a P4 is only about 100 marks in 3dm06 and 3dM05. In real gaming, where the processor has to filter information being thrown at it, there can be a more noticeable difference.

Replace your PSU then re-test.

So you're saying the score should go up with a more powerful psu?

It COULD go up. It's very possible that instabilities from your power supply are causing drops in frame rates. Even if it doesn't help with benchmarking scores, you seriously need a new PSU. If that thing fries it's going to take out components on your computer.
