Not where I live. Trust me, I tried. One visit to the nearest ditch was enough. With Summer tires and actual snow on the asphalt, there is nearly ZERO traction.

not to mention that on dry cold asphalt, summer tires wear down insanely fast.

Yep. First time I went out with my car in the snow like that, I ended up sitting in my neighbor's driveway. D:

99 camaro SS + summer rubber + dusting of snow = farm field visit :sneaky:

luckily there was no drainage ditch there

Looked at my tires today when I went down to my car. They are BFGoodrich g-Force Sports.

I probably should have just asked exdeath so I could start using what he's got... :D

LOL summer tires in the winter...

We have enough trouble stopping on WINTER tires in the winter here in Edmonton. It boggles the mind the people who drive around on all seasons, to hell with summer rubber that turns rock-hard under 7 degrees C.

That being said I am grateful to have my summer rims back on. Toyo Proxes T1-R, fantastic grip. Wear out kinda fast but I suppose that's expected given their treadwear rating of like 280. In the winter I have a set of Michelin Pilot Apin PA2s, which are like the X-Ice 2s only with a higher speed rating (they have sort of a hybrid tread pattern that looks partially like an X-Ice and partially like a summer tire).

In spite of record-breaking levels of snow I only got stuck once this winter when I high-centered the car after sliding into the ditch on the side of my alley, lol.

Car is a 2005 Volvo S60R, 300 hp AWD, 6 speed manual.
