Is there any difference over the long term between leaving a PS2 vertical or horizontal?

Ive wondered this as well.

Glad to know that putting one vertical doesn't make a difference. (Actually planning on getting one in a few months, and it will fit better vertical in my entertainment center)
 
I've read that some folks complained of scratched disks when PS2 was used vertically. Not sure that it has been proved to be the exact cause.
 
CDs get scratched when the console is vertical cause people don't realize the disc stays in the tray by itself. They hold it there and sometimes slide the disc around inside the tray. But it holds discs in place so you can place it in gently and leave it there.
