Horizontal or vertical airflow for CPU in Antec P180?

I'd like to know what CPU cooling you guys are using...preferably with an Antec P180. Currently I'm running a Thermaltake Big Typhoon so airflow is "vertical". Is anyone else using a cooler with horizontal airflow?

The reason I ask is because my CPU temps go down 10 degrees with the case cover off. I'm guessing this is due to the fact that the the top of the TTBT is so close to the case cover and at the same time is blowing down.

Would a Thermalright Ultra-120 or Zalman 9500(can't fit the 9700 with my chipset cooler) perform better with it blowing horizontally directly out of the case?

Just for reference, my GPU temp goes up about 3 degrees at idle with the case closed.

Thanks for any help.

It might be possible and I'd recommend Scythe Infinty if you were to go for one. One thing to note is that these L-shaped HSF often reduce the airflow on the motherboard (therefore NB, memory, VRM, etc.) so make sure you have an adequate cooling for those components, too.

Dont get the 9500. I had it, it done no better than my xp-120. Get the 9700.

Unfortunately the 9700 won't fit with the Thermalright chipset cooler beside it.

How close is the THermalright Ultra-120 in performance to the Scythe Infinity?
