Horizontal lines while in dos

i seem to be getting alot of horizontal lines while in dos, sometimes even the bios screen will show them, it makes everything completely unredable, i tried two different hercules mx's and two different msi pro2a motherboards, any help?

Silly question, but your problem sounds familiar...do you have an external zip drive?

nope, no zip drive, i'm thinking it might be a bios setting. but haavent found the right one yet
