I have a Hitachi CM721F 19". Whenver it's at 640x480 it appears that every other line is blank. I never really cared, because I never used 640x480. Unfortunately, with Doom 3, I now have a reason to use that resolution. Anyway. What would cause this? I played with the convergence settings on the monitor. It made no difference. It looks fine on my 17" dell. Thanks!

Video card is a BFG ti4200 128meg. As I mentioned, it looks fine on the Dell 17" monitor, so I'm almost certain this is not video card related.

Sounds like interlacing. Try using the refresh override in the driver, and fix the refresh rate to 85Hz or 120Hz.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that out. Unfortunately it didn't help. An eaiser solution might be to buy a video card that can play doom at @ > 640x480 :)

I had a similar problem a long time ago with my voodoo. 512x384 always did that. I just assumed the monitor did not really support that resolution. Does 640x480 desktop resolution produce the same effect?

Enable Doublescan in the driver options. It should be in the timings section if I recall correctly.
Thanks! That was it. In case anyone is interested, the option (in the nvidia driver) is here:

nView Display Settings >>
Device Settings >>
Device Adjustments >>
Display Mode timing >>
Enable Doublescan for lower resolution modes.

Hmm... I only get ~20fps. According to this site I'm getting about what I should. Her machine gets better than that?

Oops, misread Rage187's post. I guess that's what I get when I read too fast. :p Sorry. xD

You're welcome, too. :)
