I don't have an active sub to HZ, but the game did have a lot to like about it. Unfortunately, as the game has shifted from studio to studio, its gotten progressively worse. Their latest owner, EI Interactive, quite literally did nothing but F up the billing, close the test server, close the European service, remove the support ticket system, closed registration on the web forums, and completely ignore the community.
I happened to stop by the Hz website this morning, and what do I see, but several updates to the site. That almost never happens.
Community of Istaria
Seems Hz has been purchased again by a company called Virtrium LLC. It'd be hard for them to be any worse than EI, but it seems they are actually doing things right.
Gamer's Info link
Virtrium has apparently re-established the test server, opened the community forums, established a new, 'agile' support ticket system, and have actually be talking to players.
Horizons needs a lot of work done with it, but I think they can be assured that the handful of remaining subscribers aren't going to jump ship, considering what they've already been through.
While I enjoyed the game when I played it, back when it was under Artifact and a little under Tulga, I don't think I'll return unless they implement some considerable updates. Rebuilding the client is needed. The game looks like crap today, lags like hell, takes forever to load, and is primarily a software based renderer. If they have to, license an engine from someone else and get to to work.
