Fellow hoppofiles (made that word up), list some of your most recent hoppy beer purchases!

For me, I picked up a sixer of Karbach Hoppdillo and St. Arnold Elissa, two of my favorites :) A couple months ago St. Arnold had a few kegs of Fresh Hop Elissa floating around town. So crisp and delicious :)

I would also like to recommend Modus Hoperandi by Ska Brewery. They sell it in cans, so it's perfect pool-side or at the beach.

There are tons that I could list off. Let's hear some of your favorites :)

i just picked up some widmer kill devil brown ale last night at the HEB. just that one bottle qualified as my additional $10 purchase for the $0.88/lb pork shoulder. looking forward to trying it tonight/tomorrow

KILL DEVIL BROWN ALE'S FLAVOR COME FROM THE USE OF INGREDIENTS TRADITIONALLY USED BY CARIBBEAN DISTILLERS. SWEET BARBADOS AND BLACKSTRAP MOLASSES PROVIDE TOUCHES OF TOASTED SUGAR, BLACK LICORICE AND BLACKENED TOFFEE WHILE THE PALM SUGARS INVITE NOTES OF SUBTLE SWEETNESS. AS THE BEER CONDITIONS IN PUERTO RICAN RUM BARRELS, THE VANILLA AND SUBTLE OAK FLAVORS AND AROMAS DEVELOP AND INTEGRATE WITH THE CALYPSO HOPS' SOFT TROPICAL AND STONE FRUIT AROMAS.

That Gigantic IPA I mentioned in the other thread was excellent. Super smooth and hoppy, but not too hoppy. Highly recommended!

IPAs I love right now:

Dogfishhead 90min
Dogfishhead 60min
21st Amendment IPA
Southern Tier 2x IPA
Two Brother's Heavy Handed IPA
Deviant Dale's IPA
Great Divide Hercules Double IPA
Great Divide Titan IPA

The 21st Amendment is probably my favorite currently.

If you want firmly planted American IPAs, do Sierra Nevada Torpedo and/or Celebration. Also, Modus Hoperandi...

Their Brew Free or Die IPA? Or Back in Black black IPA? I like that they make decent beer in cans. Been seeing more of that.

+1 for SN Celebration. When I went to Chico St. I couldn't wait till winter. I've never tried torpedo though. Their Bigfoot Ale if it's still being made is delicious too. It's been a few years since I've had that. Actually it's been a good 6mos since I've had any alcohol period. Maybe I'll pick up a 6 pack tonight.

That sounds like it'd be too sweet for me.

Currently in my fridge:

Sierra Nevada Celebration
Mendicino White Hawk IPA
Independence Brewing Stash IPA

Modus Hoperandi is awesome. I usually keep cans of that around.

Lately I've been enjoying Odell's wonderful Mountain Standard Double Black IPA.

i'm not a big sugar person but widmer has been good in the past with their special releases so i'm hopping that it'll also be good.

This came up about a month ago, here: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2286063&highlight=hops

My suggestion then, as it is now is

Lagunitas A Little Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale

One of my favorite beers right now, and I'm on a bit of a hops kick.

Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine Issue #43 (Aug 2010):

Hoppy wheat is what the beer geeks are callin' for. This beer has a thick, wheat-induced head and clear, pale amber color. It has some sweet breadiness underneath a big tide of hop aroma. It's super smooth and easy to drink. It has a thick flavor of soft, floral and fruity hops, and the bitterness is there, but nothing too sharp--more like dried grass or tobacco. This beer has a bit of a snappy, dry malt character and is faintly yeasty with some warming esters. The hops stay on the palate far into the aftertaste. This one has it all figured out--an amazing ale.

I was a huge hophead before moving out to the UK for two years. Oddly, I prefer the more well rounded Pale Ales now. My favorite local probably being Manny's Pale Ale. Still plenty of hops, just better balanced with the malt bill.

The Sierra Nevada Celebration is a must for this time of year. Even in my hophead days I preferred their Pale Ale to their Torpedo. It's just the classical example of American Pale Ale.

Other Pale Ales and IPAs I frequently enjoy:

Bridgeport IPA and Blue Heron Pale Ale
Double Mountain Vaporizor
Double Mountain Hop Lava
Driftwood Ale
Lighthouse Riptide Ale
Philips Hop Circle Pale

The last three are all from Vancouver Island. I was amazed at the quality of brews up there for the size of Victoria, they really impressed me and easily surpassed the brews of Vancouver itself.

West Coast IPA's how I do enjoy you -

My go to's:

Lagunitas IPA
Sierra Nevada Torpedo
New Belgium Ranger
Bridgeport Hop Czar
Deschutes Inversion
Green Flash West Coast IPA
Anderson Valley Hop Ottin IPA

& Special's

Russina River Pliny the Elder
Sierra Nevada Hoptimum

*Dogfish - you 60/90/120 lovers need to branch out to the west coast IPA's, the Dogfish brews are good, just not the be all end all of IPA's like you all claim.
