hey

Ok, so I've never overclocked before and just wanna ask for a few pointers :)

I managed to get one of the newer 533 p4's running on my TH7II-RAID last year (stock 2.8c). It took a couple of bios updates and then some fiddling but everything's cool now (weird cold boot issues at first, had to change from fixed agp to 2/4 and also change memory speed).

So anyways, I know that the 2.8 @ 533 is the fastest stock cpu i can get since the 800fsb cpus won't work on a th7ii board. But I've just got one of those vga coolers for my 9800pro, and a zalman flower style cooler for my cpu so i'd like to see how far i can boost things within reason. Since it's a 533 and these weren't really meant for th7's (even tho they work ok), is there anything i need to watch out for? Anyone had experience with this board/cpu before? How should i get started?

p4 2.8c 533
512mb PC800 RDRAM
radeon 9800pro
etc..

Current bios setup:

ext clock: 133MHz/33.25MHz
multiplier: x21
agpclk/cpuclk: 2/4 (66.50MHz)
speed error hold: Disabled

cpu voltage: default (1.525v) [cpu-z reports voltage as 1.36v-1.39v]

RDRAM Bus Freq: 300MHz
Differential Current: 6x

many thanks,
beat.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm gonna try to understand your post.

You have a i850 board, running a 2.8B cpu and wanna overclock it ?

Don't know that board, but start by blocking the AGP/PCI and then start by pushing the FSB in small steps.
It should get to 3000 without much to worry.
