DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) - A truck carrying peanut butter and jelly sandwiches overturned on U.S. 52, closing a stretch of the highway between Durango and Sageville.
According to authorities, the semitrailer was hauling about 24,000 pounds of sandwiches when it flipped onto its side north of Sageville, early Monday. While crews unloaded the boxes, the road was closed to all traffic but emergency vehicles.
Dubuque County Sheriff's Deputy Todd George said the truck's driver, Robert Greser of Dunlap, was hauling the load to St. Paul from Dubuque when a wheel of the truck caught the edge of the road. George says the 35-year-old Greser may have over-corrected, causing the truck to flip.
George says Greser, who was uninjured, will likely be issued a traffic ticket for failure to maintain control.
