I just got my PD 945 in today and put it in my Gigabyte GA-8N-SLI board. I was previously running a PD805 and could get it up to 3.42ghz without throttling, so I was hoping for around 3.8-4ghz with the new chip. For some reason, I can't get this thing past 3.6ghz stable. Won't even boot with 3.62ghz, it locks up past the POST screen. What would be causing this? My buddy said it would be the northbridge overheating, so i've taken the side panel off and it seems to have helped a little bit. Would investing in a nice NB fan help me out, or is this just a crap board for overclocking past 211mhz FSB
. I would have expected at least a little more out of this chip/board combo.
