Just got new speakers for my record player, but they're not readily compatible. Is there an easy way to convert these plugs?

Thanks for any help!

Welcome to anandtech. You are missing a critical piece in between your record player and your speakers. You need an amplifier!

I'm dumb and I only buy receivers for my entertainment systems.

Wouldn't he also want an equalizer? Or a more audio focused receiver?

hahaha oh god, you're right, that's embarrassing. Any recommendations for an amplifier?

:D

 It happens to all of us. ...but I don't have a good recommendation. I haven't paid attention to the AV world the last ~7 or 8 years.

But I will say that you will receive far more help/better advice if you provide some details regarding your needs:

Just music?
You hooking up an old CD player? an 8 track? Hipster record player with a needle that costs more than your mortgage?
You gonna run HD audio tracks? home theater? etc?

Is your record player a Pioneer PL-990 as in the picture? If so then you can buy any home stereo or surround sound amplifier/receiver from your local garage sale. Plug the white/red into the back, then run speaker cable to your speakers.

One thing to check is if the output from your record player is amplified to rca levels. If not you will need either an integrated amp with a phono stage or separate phono stage.
