I broke a driveshaft once in the work truck. I pulled the driveshaft out and drove it ~30 miles back to the office in 4 2wd

That is a loading error no?
Definitely. Too far off from the axle centers, and in the wrong direction! You want some weight on the tongue. Some ballast in bed of the truck could get them going long enough to get turn around and get it reloaded. Couldn't have gotten far like that.

Edit: thinking some more on this, the load might have shifted when they tried to get moving through the intersection. Maybe inadequate securing to the trailer itself.

They should have centered the load between the trailer wheels. If nobody is behind them they probably could lift off their brakes and drift backwards to get the truck's front wheels on the ground. Maybe get a better run for the hill next time but that would need to be timed correctly since it looks like an intersection.

Yeah should have load closer to hitch so some of the weight is on the hitch to then push down on wheels for better traction. That's probably way above the capacity of that trailer and truck too. Some people think just because they have a truck they can pull stuff that a semi would normally pull. I wonder how they even got it on there, that's easy a couple metric tons.

I can tell that truck is not a Dodge Ram though, because it's not bent in half. ;)

Could be a couple guys standing on the bumper (or better yet in the bed!) briefly solves this issue lol.... albeit NOT in the safe/recommended way!

;)

I agree that it appears the load was either improperly placed or inadequatley secured on the trailer and shifted.
