i guess that's what happens when you fix a leaking hose from your turbo to the engine :D

little elbow hose got some cracks in it, so i wasn't getting nearly as much boost.

mmmmmmm, 100% 1.8T goodness on my passat now :D:D

Yea boost leaks on turbo cars are an easy fix to make sure your car is getting the power it is supposed to. I boost leak test my car every couple months.

yeah, i was hoping he was going to say he mounted a huge aluminum spoiler on the trunk lid, or better yet, painted his drum break housings orange.

mine has a chip (apparently a crappy one, but better than stock), exhaust, and a lowered suspension. the PO (previous owner, not OP :D) did most parts half-assed. so the suspension has shocks for OEM springs, but lowered springs :wtf;

that being said, the car is plenty quick for a turbo I4 and is tons of fun :D

How much lower is it than stock? (I couldn't tell from the pics, not sure what the standard ride height on the Passat is)

From what I've read, a drop of 1.5" or less shouldn't really effect the OEM shocks/struts. I mean, the VW Driver's Gear 'sport springs' (rebadged Eibach's) for the MKV Golf drop the car 1.2", iirc. The European spec MKV GTI rides about an inch lower than the US spec and they both use the same shocks & struts.

However, I'd still prefer to save up the cash and upgrade the shocks, struts and springs at the same time.

it's lowered enough that the shocks have bottomed out on the rear :(

Yay 1.8t + chip can nevAr lose ;)

Congrats, I changed out my vac lines and DV before getting my chip (few weeks ago) and I love the added power. Mine does surge a bit below 3.5k, I'm going to swap out my n75, your thoughts Fenix?

i have no idea about the modding scene for the 1.8T:eek: all the mods were done previous to my acquisition of the car. my brother, on the other hand, is damn near a mechanic with all the work he's done on his B6 A4 1.8T :p

take his old parts and use them... =P looks like you have a 98-99 body style 1.8T so i would assume with the chip, you might have 150-160 whp. As much as i like the 1.8T's i think the 4-motion/ quattaro holds them back on the highway too much.

a good chip + KO4 turbo + exhaust = 300hp @ crank. that's what my brother did to his A41.8T

the 2.0T engine is even scarier in its modding ability

oh lord, please tell me you have a real exhaust and not just a fart can. either way nice on fixing a boost leak.

edit: chip? um...does it have a tuned map or something?

the exhaust is semi-fartcan, but really not that bad. definitely not the level of the stereotypical civic ricer. im pretty sure the chip increased the allowed boost, but i dont know much else.

as i said, all modifications were done previous to my acquisition of the car :)

1.8Ts can have their boost increased via chips. It's quite common.

boost can be increased, but is the fuel map changed to allow more boost is the big question, and even bigger one is can the injectors handle the fuel increase over a prolonged period of time.

edit: you dont have to answer this, its just something to ponder on.

With as many people running chipped 1.8s I think it's fine.

i don't think my brother had to get any new components to accomodate a larger turbo along with his chipmod.
