i'm not 100%, but i'm pretty sure my video card kicked the bucket. it started about 2 or 3 days ago: the screen would freeze at seemingly random times for about 5 seconds, then the monitor would turn off to power saving mode. so far, this has happened after a few minutes of playing a video game, or occasionally when starting a video. however, starting last night, when i reset the computer, it would again freeze when it was beginning the load the gui, right after the windows xp loading screen - the monitor would change resolution, then a black screen with a little distortion. then the monitor would go into power save mode. windows only finishes loading occasionally, usually after i force a power off.
system:
athlon 64 3000+
msi k8n neo platinum
2x512mb pc3200 ram
ati radeon 9800 pro
etc.
pretty much all of my system components are ~2 years old, the only thing newer is the second 515mb stick of ram, which is less than a year old. i tried changing around the ram to see if that was the problem, no dice. also, temperatures all seem normal, as do the voltages (the only significant difference is the 12v rail, which is around 12.15v, but i believe thats still within spec). so, any ideas?
