I have bit my tongue every week as deadlines are set for work, yet I am the only one who contributes anything. I finally emailed all of them, b!tching at them and telling them to get their sh*t straight. I told them that I always find time to do my part of the project, for example: We were each supposed to submit online a part of the project by Saturday afternoon. Saturday, I left for Philly, went to a health convention, left in the middle of the convention to return to my hotel room to do my part of the project, submitted it online, and then returned to the convention. It is Monday, and still no one has done anything, which is what happens every week.

Just a little venting

"Cajones" means "drawers", as in "desk drawers", for the record.

The word you're looking for has two o's in it. ;)

Lol. Back in HS we had a guy in a group project who didn't finish his portion of the work on time (this was the day before the project was due). So myself and the other guy gave him till that night to finish his portion. I called his house at about 9:00 that night and asked him how it was going. He sounded confused, so I told him just to make it to the online chat room we had schdualed for that night. He joined (on time for once) and the other guy and I told him we were cutting him loose. HE FLIPPED!!! To the point of death threats! Given that he was one of those emo-goth-hybrids-who-ownes-a-gun-and-lets-everyone-know-it guys, we let him back in (he was grateful). Still had to complete his sh!t though (if we hadn't let him in, he probably would've failed the course). In any case, the project went fine, group got a B+ (after I stayed up till 3:00am doing his sh!t :|). Still pretty damn scary at the time.

That's my story. GJ sending the e-mail.

Fundamental truth= Groups without leaders don't work!

Even in fluid groups where the person with the lead is constantly shifting, at any point in time there is someone who has the lead for oversight.

krunchykrome, if the situation is at your employment, which is how I read it, you should raise it to your manager.

If the situation is about a group project in school, which is what some other posters' remarks indicate, then there needs to be a timeout for group caucus about establishing some group structure. Somebody needs to be designated as the person to whom everybody gives their inputs, and that person carries responsibility for getting the deliverable turned in to the professor on time.

Keep in mind, the average (50th percentile) worker believes about themselves that they are in the 80th percentile in doing a department's workload. So those you see as slackers may see themselves as leading contributors, from their frame of reference, which is probably radically different from yours. Zest for life!!!
