I received my new laptop case by UPS. I had originally bought this case when I got my first laptop about 6 years ago. I had no receipts and only a guess about what store sold it to me. A while back, one of the zippers stopped sliding but it was near the end of the track and the other one on that track still worked so I ignored it. Then the shoulder strap failed. I tried to fix it myself but I had to give up. It is a high stress spot that apparently warped too much for me to warp back with a hammer.

I filled out the Targus online form. They never responded like they claimed. I called up and got some nice foreign fellow who approved my return. I mailed it in and got a new one sent back to me. It is supposedly the same model but it seems that it is "new & improved" since my bag was sold. It has a lot of nifty new pockets but overall is the same general shape. I am pleased that this $50 bag really does have a lifetime warranty and they really live by it without dicking you around.

 Targus

If it's anything like this one then I know just what you mean. I just got this backpack and I LOVE it. Protection for my thinkpad is sooooo nice.

BTW, this bag is the targus back, but IBM/Lenovo took it, unlabeled it (a bag that screams targus is just a target for theives) and added a few cosmetic changes to make it look thinkpad-ish. Lifetime warranty is provided through targus though, and this is easily the best laptop backpack I've owned, it feels so much more comfortable and lighter than my last one.

EDIT: better view of backpack features link

hooray for you for posting a good experience. It is easy to not post about those and only post about problems/complaints.

It is this bag. It is the same model number as my old one but just updated. I am going to take it to campus in a couple hours for class and office hours so hopefully I will enjoy it as much as the old one.

Hmm...Do all of their bags have a lifetime warranty? I purchased a messenger type bag from Best Buy 3 years ago (I think) and the strap has failed. There is also a piece of plastic that goes between the handle to help hold it in place and that broke. This might be worth checking out.
