Hooking up surround sound speakers to xbox 360

I'm trying to figure out the best way to get my 5.1 surround speakers hooked up.

I use my xbox 360 for playing games and watching movies, and I'm not worried about getting amazing sound when I'm just watching TV.

The speakers have an optical port... but does the 360? I didn't see one?

Is this possible?

where you connect the video cable to the console, there is an optical port on the dongle that connects to the console. hook it up there and you're golden

So I go strait from optical port on speakers to that?

Its almost *too* easy....

I have something like that, I had a more descriptive post but the word censoring hounded me for some reason

Got my cables from Monoprice as well. Make sure you change the audio setting in the Xbox dashboard to Digital Surround.

Uhh why not just go to Target or Wal-Mart and buy the XBOX 360 digital cable? They cost like $8 from some company and they work just fine. I use them on my XBOX 360 -> receiver and HDTV -> receiver.

Also, you will have to change your sound settings to use 5.1.
