Hooking up sata cables

Hi
Well we are finaly on the build, but am wondering about the optical drive and hard drive SATA cables. In the mobo manual it showes SATAII0 /1/2/3/4/5 (SATA 3Gb/s Connector, Controled by ICH8R). Right now I have the optical drives pluged in here. The other is GSATAII0 / GSATAII1 (SATA 3Gb/s Connector, Controlled by Gigabyte SATA2). I have the hard drive pluged in here. Should they all be pluged into the slots controled by ICH8R or what? The manual isn't clear on this. Also on the PCIE_12v power conector, in the manual it shows pin 1 as NC. The powere supply has +5v on this lead. Will this be a problem? I haven't powered up yet, am waiting for the video card to arive. Thanks for your help. Have fun, Rick

SATA ports are usually the base sata where you can plug in either your optical or hdd. But if you are using RAID then you should plug your hdd's in the GSATA ports. As for the 12V connector, these are usually standard. So try it first and if problem exist, post again.
