Hooking up PS

I'm beginning to hook up the Seasonic M12II evo edition PS to the ASRock Z97 Extreme6 MB.

First thing it says is 'hook up the 24/20' to the MB.

I see the 20 pin connector on the MB. Thing is, the cable has two connectors, one 20 pin and one 10 pin. Do I just ignore the 10 pin connector?

And the cable and PS connector both seem to be female?

There should be the main power connector that is 20+4 but you might have another cable that is 8-pin for the CPU. Most power supplies allow you to split this connector if you just need the older 4-pin connection

OK we need some pics.

The left connector goes to the PS - but the same female connector is on the PS, so it doesn't connect.

The right side shows the 20 and 10 pin connectors.

This shows clearly the 20 pin connector on the MB - but nowhere for the 10 pin to go.

The included cables with the PS are a bit confusing, various connectors, like some seem to have a molex on one side and a molex and another connector on the other. I want to hook up one Molex. Edit: OK, think I found the answer. One cable - surprisingly few - comes with three Molex connectors on it for things, not much space between them. We'll see how this goes.

-Why the heck does the Seasonic have text one way on one side, and upside down on the next side? It led to my installing it 'upside down'.

Kind of annoying they only included SATA cables with a 90 degree connector also, had to buy an extension cord.

Probably because most modern computers don't have anything in them with a standard 4 pin molex connector.

Well, if the argument is that most modern computers don't use any 4-pin molex connectors, that doesn't mean that a computer that does use 4-pin molex isn't modern. It could still be modern. The use of molex connectors doesn't dictate whether a computer or a case is modern - it's just that you're less likely to find use for molex in a modern computer.

Molex is giving way to SATA power because Molex connectors are a hassle. They stick (I've had to pull Molex connectors out with pliers several times), the pins bend (or just don't fit right and rattle around in their casings), and while they take tons of abuse, that doesn't make up for how unfriendly they are in general use. Not to mention that they're big and bulky and don't carry 3.3v, which is increasingly useful for modern components.

They (molex) do stick. I've never been a fan of that "feature". The SATA power connectors are less likely to do that, though I've had a few powered PCIe riser cables that were a pita.

Molex connectors are also bulky, which is bad for sff etc.
