Hooking up my Laptop to my HD tv.

Hello all. I play alot of WoW as of late and my laptop can run it with everything almost turned all the way up. The only thing that is down a little is the terrain distance but only one notch. So the game looks and runs good. Here is my question though.

I have an HDTV with a monitor connection on the back so I have hooked it up in the past but I now shy away from doing so because everything just doesnt look as good as it does on the laptop. The laptop has and ATI Mobility Radion 9600 in case you need to know that. I am wondering what I might be doing wrong to make the picture not appear as good on my tv then it does on my laptop. I know for sure that the tv has a much better picture. So to me I feel I am doing something wrong for it to look worse on my HD set.

Is there some technical thing that I am not doing when I hook up the laptop to the tv to adjust the settings correctly? Or is this just never gonna work?

Please help me out! If I have not provided enough information just let me know what you need to know to give me an answer. Thanks in advance for all your help.

Is your video card outputting to the native resolution of the tv? If not, it will probably look a little pixelly since it has to stretch the image. Also, assuming it is an HDTV, it may have to put out a higher resolution than what is used for your laptop's screen. Therefore, you would have to turn down some settings to have the game play at your TV's native resolution.

As for actually implementing this, I'm not so sure about how you could go and do this all as I have no experience in the area of hooking up TVs with PCs. Maybe something in the ATI control panel...

Basically, it is a HARDWARE issue. If your laptop has a S-Video out port and the TV a S-Video in port - use a S-Video cable, and connect. There are other work arounds, but all involve hardware.
