hooking up LCD tv need help

The LCD has a built in tuner, the Cox cable box isn't HD, so fine I hook the coax directly from the wall to the LCD and it scans all the channels fine, sweet! except the Cox box has the DVR. Can I run S-Video from the TV to the Box and still have the DVR portions work?

I'm not sure about that. What does the DVR's manual say?

Is the DVR similar to a VCR where you can go from the cable jack in the wall, to the DVR's Cable Input, then from the DVR's Cable Out to the TV? Does the DVR even have a Cable Out? If it does not, then you'll have to use the DVR as the tuner when watching cable (the TV would then jsut be a display device) or use a splitter before both pieces of equipment.

Coax will have to run into the box and then s video it into the tv as far as i would assume.

That's what I assumed, but when I ran a coax in to the box and a coax out to the antenna coax in on the LCD it never seemed to find any stations, almost like the box and the LCD's tuner were conflicting. I've never set up an LCD with a built in tuner so this is confusing to me 🙂

sorry I didn't make it clear, the DVR is the built in Cox one. the cable box has plenty of outputs, I just don't know how to hook it to the TV, don't think running the Coax from the wall directly to the TV is the way I wanna do it, but maybe...

Well dont run the coax from the box to the tv just let it into the box and run the s video out to the tv. My LCD doesnt have a tuner so i dont know for sure.

Yup, run an S-Video or component wire to the box. Or if you really want to use coax, just set the TV to antenna mode and tune in to channel 3.

you just set the LCD to ch 3 or 4 and use the cox box to change the channel

Coax cable wire from wall to box, then use componont, s video etc... cable from box to TV. Or if you plug in using coax cable wire from the box to the tv then It will either be channel 3 or 4 b/c the cable box is acting as a modulator.
